It’s a strange endeavor of which I don’t know when I’ll be able to work on or just how I’ll do it but I’ve been going back and forth on the idea for a while now. I know that sometimes sitting down and reading a blog post isn’t always easy for people. Others may prefer to just listen to a book review rather than read one. I don’t want to limit who enjoys my content so I figured that at least I had something that was available for people.
My intro episode that I recorded on the drive home from taking my oldest back to her fathers. It isn’t perfect and to be honest I recorded several times always deleting because I didn’t like how I sounded, or I made too many flubs. I settled on this take and while it’s not perfect I feel like at least it explains things.
The idea is simply that I will read a blog post each episode to put it in an audio format. That includes my book tour posts, reviews, opinion posts and blog updates. They’ll be lovely little audiobooks with my ridiculous voice. I will embed the episodes to the posts through spotify and should they become available in other places I will link all the others.
I think my only thing that I’m not sure about is whether I should start from my old posts and go through them all, if I should start with my new posts and go backwards or if I should just focus on future blog posts. I’d love to know what you all thing in the comments.
The quality is going to be abysmal. A lot of episodes will be recorded in my car I’m sure, or at a time when I have to speak softer than normal. I’ll be using my cell phone and an earbud microphone. Nothing fancy, nothing noise cancelling. I also won’t be worrying about any major editing. I just don’t want this to become a chore that I don’t have time to do because I’m trying to make it super perfect.
I’ll still be blogging so don’t worry if you aren’t interested in following the podcast or are bothered with the low quality.
It does leave a lot of room for me to do reviews and such outside of what I post on my blog but I need to know that I can record anything at all for my posts which will prove a little difficult at times. So if you’d like to see episodes that aren’t a part of my blog and are a little more off the cuff, let me know in the comments as well.
