How The Write Reads Helped My Blog

ItyReadsBooks hasn’t been around all that long, and this blog was something made on a bit of a whim. At the time, I felt like I needed to do something and I kept looking at all my books left unread. I had tried and failed many times to blog about various things but I thought that I’d take a different approach to this and just use it as a way to push me to read more books.

Now over a year later, I still have more books than I can possibly read but I am still enjoying the process. However I can honestly say that I don’t think that this blog would have grown had it not been for joining The Write Reads gang in my first month.

I had my Twitter and I was making my posts thankful for every view that I got. I stumbled onto The Write Reads rather randomly, I had followed the right people to see the tweets and the offer to join. I jumped at it because it sounded like a great way to get some views. Even though I wanted the blog to be something for fun, I also did want it to succeed. So whenever I hit a WordPress milestone I really felt proud of myself.

Things really turned around when I was Blog of the Day the first time. I didn’t imagine that I’d have so many people interested in anything I had written. There was always that wonder if it was just be some retweets but no real engagement but the beautiful thing about TWR Gang is that they are all so nice. They comment and they like and they retweet because the genuinely want to help their fellow bloggers.

Over time, I felt part of something that I hadn’t felt before and every time I get a DM from Dave asking me to be a part of something, I feel honored. That he and all the other members want to see each other be better. To do more. It is why I’m a panelist on the BBNYA. Why I participate in the tours that he runs.

We have a lot of divide a lot of the time on Twitter and in the Book Community in general. Some people just want to help others and I’m happy to be a part of that. So if you are a Book Blogger and you are interested in helping others, in being a part of a group that wants to boost your blog as well as other blogs, then you should join.

Thank you to Dave and all those that are in the gang. You are all wonderful human beings and even though I don’t know each and every one of you, I know that you are a great group of people that I’m beyond happy to be a part of.
