Loving horror books is my thing, I think we all know that at this point. This book was found on the shelves at Barnes & Nobles and I just had to have it. I love books that are formatted this way and Slender Man is something that I heard of but don’t know much.
I finished this in a couple of days and it was really interesting so let’s get to the review!

One man’s search for the truth about one of the most intriguing urban legends ever—the modern bogeyman, Slender Man—leads him down a dark, dangerous path in this creepy supernatural fantasy reminiscent of Night Film, House of Leaves, and Illuminae, that will make you question where the line between legend and fact begins
A young man is desperate to find his missing friend . . . desperate enough to resort to the darkest means. But just how much is he willing to pay the Slender Man in order to save her?
Told through a variety of narrative devices, including photos, journal entries, e-mails, articles, and other artifacts, this unique spine-tingling story is a brilliant and terrifying look at one of the most fascinating—and diabolical—mythical figures in modern times.
This is a book told through emails, text messages and diary entries. It has extremely suspenseful moments. However this wasn’t the best book I’ve read. It wasn’t that writing was bad or that I don’t understand what they were trying to do but I feel like it fell a little flat overall.
The main character was the stereotypical teenage boy that you read in books. He finds his parents annoying, he has nightmares and doesn’t like talking about it. He doesn’t have many friends and he writes stories. There isn’t really any character development for him at all. His motives kind of don’t really make that much sense but felt like they just needed to happen to forward the story.
Finally the ending was beyond irritating. I’m not going to go into why exactly because spoilers but it just made everything that happened pointless to me. I just was left disappointed. Having said that, there are some really spooky moments that were really well written so I can’t say that people wouldn’t like it. I just wouldn’t recommend it.
